How do animals and plants change during their life cycle?
During this excursion Stage 1 students will explore the bushland in the Field of Mars Reserve to find examples of living things representing different stages of their life cycle.
Students will explore the reserve on a bushwalk, observing different life stages of various native plants and animals and describing how their external features change as they grow.
At the Field of Mars centre, students will conduct a focused scientific investigation, collecting and observing invertebrates and identifying their life stages. Using clay, students will construct an model of their invertebrate to take back to school.
This program has been updated for the 2024 syllabus and was formally known as Watch it grow.
Recommended maximum 6 classes per day.
