Aboriginal connections to Country excursion
HSIE geography - updated for 2024 syllabus
What are the connections people have with the land, water and wildlife? How can we connect to Country?
Students will explore various landscapes and waterways along the Lane Cove River through the lens of traditional Aboriginal practices and understandings. They will investigate how Darug people care for Country and in turn, how we are cared for by Country.
Stage 1 students will be immersed in a range of hands-on interactive activities as they connect with and develop an understanding of custodianship of the unique bushland they traverse. Using natural resources, students will interpret and create stories, identify local plants and their traditional uses and discern the importance and connectedness of water, land and life.
Recommended maximum 4 classes per day.
