| Welfare | Participants will be bushwalking during the day in rugged terrain. Limited wheelchair accessibility. Email to confirm with location. This excursion may not be suitable for people who have been recently unwell. |
| Bring | Clipboard, worksheets, medications, low-waste food, plenty of water, sunblock, hat and raincoat in a small backpack. Sports uniform recommended. There are no shops near the study site. |

| Medical or special needs | Notify Field of Mars staff prior to excursion. Students, staff and visitors must not attend if unwell, even with mild symptoms. |
| Extreme or wet weather | Days predicted to be above 35ºC, high winds, extreme bush fire danger and dust storms may result in the excursion being modified, postponed or cancelled. |
| Cancellations | Cancellations with less than four school weeks' notice will incur a $500 administration fee. This does not apply to cancellations due to weather or fire danger. |

With a focus on fieldwork inquiry and tools students will engage in fieldwork in rugged bushland and aquatic environments. Students will be challenged to make observations and identify the steps for a fieldwork inquiry. Data collected on the day supports post excursion activites and assessment.
Inquiry question
Students will commence the day acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land and observe historical change that has transformed the Lane Cove River into what we see today. Students will investigate three contemporary issues.
Traditional and contemporary management will be observed and discussed.
This program will enhance student personal capabilities, ethical understanding and workplace skills.
