In this hands-on outdoor incursion students will explore the amazing world of ants and other invertebrates.
What can we learn about ants and their friends by watching them? Working scientifically students explore the school playground in search of ants and other invertebrates. Students will observe their habitat, behaviours, features and consider their role in the environment.
Field of Mars EEC will provide each class a scrapbook for students to record their findings.
What can I learn about ants and their friends by thinking like one? Students will engage with technology and games to better understand an ant's view of the world.
This program supports the Stage 1 English - Year A Term 3 - Unit 11 - perspective and argument and its use of Hey, Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose as a mentor text. To squish or not to squish?
