Secondary Geography excursions | Stages 4–6 | Field of Mars EEC
Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre offers secondary Geography fieldwork programs for Stages 4, 5 and 6 in Field of Mars Reserve and other Sydney locations. All excursions and incursions are aligned to the NSW curriculum for 7–10 Geography and 11–12 Geography and support students to develop fieldwork skills, geographical inquiry and understanding of contemporary environmental issues.

Fieldwork excursion supporting the landscapes and landforms focus area of the Stage 4 Geography syllabus, with students investigating landform features, geomorphic processes, and cultural landscapes of a Sydney riverine environment.
Place and liveability excursion
Stage 4 | Geography
Urban fieldwork excursion supporting the place and liveability focus area of the Stage 4 Geography syllabus, where students examine features of urban places against liveability factors, and conduct a case study on the influence of the natural environment on liveability.
Water in the world excursion

Fieldwork excursion supporting the water in the world focus area of the Stage 4 Geography syllabus exploring water resources, waterways management and cultural uses and values of rivers in urban settings.

Stage 5 | Geography
Fieldwork excursion supporting the environmental change and management focus area of the Stage 5 Geography syllabus, where students collect data to monitor the causes, consequences and management of environmental issues affecting an urban riverine environment.

Fieldwork excursion supporting the Earth’s natural systems focus area of the Year 11 Geography syllabus, examining the characteristics and interactions of the atmospheric, hydrological, geomorphic and ecological systems in a forest ecosystem.
Place and cultural change excursion

Fieldwork excursion supporting study 3: place and cultural change of the people, patterns and processes focus area in the Year 11 Geography syllabus, focusing on the role of migration on place and cultural identity in a dynamic inner Sydney location.
Urban heat excursion
Stage 6 | Geography
Fieldwork excursion supporting study 3: climate change of the human–environment interactions focus area in the Year 11 Geography syllabus, where students collect microclimate data to evaluate the effect of urban heat and climate change and adaptation strategies.
