Secondary excursions and incursions | 7-12
Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre offers curriculum-aligned fieldwork excursions and incursions for secondary students (Stage 4–6). Our programs support the NSW syllabus in science, geography, mathematics and Earth and environmental Science. Schools across Sydney can access hands-on environmental investigations, data collection, ecological studies and sustainability learning in the bushland, waterways and urban natural areas around Field of Mars Reserve and local environments.
Geography excursions
Fieldwork and classroom-integrated geography excursions and incursions for Stage 4, 5 and 6. Students investigate landscapes, landforms, environmental change, human-environment interactions and sustainability planning. Programs provide authentic fieldwork opportunities in Sydney bushland and urban areas to support geography syllabus outcomes.
Mathematics excursions
Practical fieldwork-based mathematics programs for Stage 4 and 5 students. These excursions build numeracy, measurement, data collection and statistical analysis skills linked to real-world environmental contexts, strengthening students’ understanding of spatial relationships, mapping, environmental data and mathematical concepts in tangible settings.
Science excursions and incursions
Science excursions and incursions for Stage 4–6 that support NSW science, biology and Earth and environmental science syllabuses. Students investigate ecosystems, classification and adaptation, human impacts, environmental change, biodiversity, ecosystems dynamics and resource management through hands-on fieldwork and data-driven experiments. These programs combine scientific inquiry with real environmental contexts to enhance understanding and engagement in Science.
