Primary school excursions | K–6 | Field of Mars EEC
Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre delivers curriculum-aligned primary school excursions (K–6) for Early Stage 1 to Stage 3 in bushland and urban environments in Sydney. Led by qualified NSW Department of Education teachers, programs build fieldwork skills and support the Science and Technology K–6 (2024) and HSIE K–6 (2024) syllabuses, with authentic links to English, Creative Arts and PDHPE.
Early Stage 1 excursions
Early Stage 1 - Kindergarten (ES1) excursions include play-based, sensory learning that introduces local environments, living things, habitats and caring for places.
Stage 1 excursions
Stage 1 - Years 1 and 2 (S1) excursions introduce students to fieldwork by observing natural and built features, recording simple data and sharing evidence-based explanations
Stage 2 excursions
Stage 2 - Years 3 and 4 (S2) excursions deepen inquiry through practical investigations, comparing environments and sustainability practices and creating simple multimodal products using photos and data.
Stage 3 excursions
Stage 3 - Years 5 and 6 (S3) excursions strengthen fieldwork and critical thinking by collecting and interpreting real-world data, evaluating human impacts and considering management strategies for environments.
HPGE programs
High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) extension and enrichment days for Stage 2 and Stage 3 high potential learners in Science, Creative Arts and Digital Technologies, featuring challenging investigations, creative projects and advanced fieldwork/digital tasks.
