Primary school excursions | K-6

Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre offers curriculum-aligned primary school excursions in Sydney for all years from Early Stage 1 to Stage 3. Our programs support NSW curriculum requirements in science, geography, HSIE, English and creative arts and take place in Field of Mars Reserve, bushland, waterways and urban environments, giving students real-world environmental and fieldwork experiences.

Early stage 1 excursions

Excursions for Early Stage 1 (ES1) - Kindergarten students that build early science and geography skills by observing living things, exploring local places and connecting with nature through play-based learning in Sydney bushland and school communities.

Stage 1 excursions

Stage 1 excursions - Year 1 and 2 that support science, geography, HSIE and English by investigating living things and life cycles, exploring Aboriginal cultures and histories and examining local environments through hands-on fieldwork and storytelling.

Stage 2 excursions

Stage 2 excursions - Year 3 and 4 focusing on ecosystems, Aboriginal cultures and histories and sustainable practices, using structured fieldwork activities so students can collect data, make observations and understand how people interact with and care for the environment.

Stage 3 excursions

Stage 3 excursions - Year 5 and 6 that develop fieldwork skills, critical thinking and sustainability understanding, linking to science, geography and English through real-world environmental investigations in Sydney bushland and local communities.

HPGE programs

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) excursions and enrichment days for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students in science, visual arts, digital technologies and creative thinking. These programs extend high-potential (gifted and talented) learners through challenging environmental investigations, creative projects and advanced fieldwork or digital tasks.
