Stage 2 (S2) excursions provide hands-on environmental learning for Year 3 and Year 4 students.
Led by qualified NSW Department of Education teachers, students investigate bushland environments through creative arts, English, HSIE, PDHPE, HPGE and Science and Technology programs.
Excursions build fieldwork skills, curiosity, teamwork, environmental understanding and confidence in learning outdoors.

The art of wellbeing excursion

A Creative Arts and PDHPE excursion where Stage 2 students use drawing, painting and nature-based materials to explore wellbeing, emotions and connection to place.
Digital woodlands excursion

A Creative Arts excursion where Stage 2 students use iPads outdoors to photograph natural features, create digital artworks and tell visual stories inspired by bushland.

An English excursion where Stage 2 students plan, script, film and review a short nature documentary while developing speaking, listening and digital storytelling skills.
Poetic adventures excursion

An English excursion where Stage 2 students collect words, images and sensory details on a bushwalk, then create poetry and short multimodal texts.

Earth’s Environment: Eucalypt forest excursion
Stage 2 | HSIE Geography
An HSIE excursion where Stage 2 students investigate a eucalypt forest, including natural features, plants, animals, weather, human impacts and sustainable care for environments.
This program will retire at the end of 2026.
Local Aboriginal studies excursion

An HSIE excursion where Stage 2 students learn about Aboriginal Peoples’ continuing connections to Country, significant places, natural materials and caring for land and waterways.
National parks excursion

An HSIE excursion where Stage 2 students investigate national parks, including natural features, plants, animals, weather, conservation strategies and ways people care for protected places.

A PDHPE excursion where Stage 2 students complete outdoor problem-solving challenges, cooperative games and team tasks that build resilience, communication and teamwork.
Natural leader excursion

A special PDHPE excursion for Years 3 and 4 where students take on leadership roles during outdoor activities, practising decision-making, responsibility and positive risk-taking in a supportive bushland setting at Field of Mars Reserve.

A Science and Technology excursion where Stage 2 students act as field scientists, investigate living and non-living features, observe food chains and record ecosystem evidence.
