Stage 2 (S2) incursions from Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre bring environmental and sustainability learning to your school for Years 3 and 4 students. These curriculum-aligned Creative Arts, English, HSIE Geography and Science and Technology incursions use digital technologies, storytelling and hands-on investigations to explore ecosystems, wellbeing and our connections with the natural environment.

Creative Arts incursions

A full-day digital arts incursion where students use iPads to capture images and create digital artworks inspired by nature, textures and patterns in their school grounds or local environments, deepening their connection with nature.

A creative arts and digital technology incursion where students use natural materials and iPads to design visual artworks that explore patterns, colour and shape in nature.

English incursions

A full-day English incursion where Stage 2 students plan, script, film and review a short documentary about nature or a local topic in their school or community, building skills in planning, speaking, listening and multimodal storytelling.

Poetic adventures incursion

Stage 2 | English

Students explore their school and nearby natural areas. They develop tier 2 and 3 environmental vocabulary and create a visual poem from the perspective of a miniature figure using an iPad.

National parks incursion

Stage 2 | HSIE Geography

Students investigate a protected area near your school, exploring features, plants, animals and management. They will explore the conservation strategies and the ways Aboriginal peoples sustainably used its resources.

Science and Technology incursions

A science and technology incursion where students investigate living and non-living elements of schoolyard ecosystems, exploring habitats, simple food chains and human impacts through hands-on investigations.
