Program
Students will collaborate on a digital communication product, developing vocabulary to create a five-senses poem. They will learn photography and digital storytelling to bring their poem to life.
Learning intentions
- We are learning to compose an illustrated poem from the perspective of a minifigure.
Activities
Macro adventure
Students will walk to various locations around your school. At each location, they’ll work in pairs to write a sentence from their minifigure’s perspective. They’ll learn about descriptive tier 2 and 3 words for natural areas and natural objects.
Students will learn about macro photography and use visual literacy to illustrate their poem.
iMovie studio
Students will review and edit field images using iMovie or a similar app. They’ll create a sequence of images to support their poem, narrate it, add titles, and select a soundtrack.
Post-production
If needed, the session can be extended to give students more time to finish their digital project.
Completed products will be sent back to school via Google Drive.
This program is also available as an excursion to the Field of Mars Reserve. This program is also available for Stage 3.
