Hi everyone, my name's Steve. I love going on bushwalking adventures. I love hearing the sounds of nature and breathing the fresh air all the plants make. Sometimes I even get to see some amazing Aussie animals.
Before I go on adventures, it's really important I pack a backpack with all the basic things I need. I forgot to make a list so I wonder, what should I bring?
Give me a moment, I'm going to go for a run around and grab all the things I need.
Oh no, I think I grabbed way too much stuff. There's no way I can fit all of this into my backpack. I should only be bringing what I actually need. I wonder what those things are. Can you help me?
You will need a piece of paper and a pencil. On the paper draw the shape of a backpack.
Now I want you to think about what do I really need. Like all living things there are some things I need to stay alive and to keep me safe. These include food, water and some kind of protection.
But I don't think I actually need this flamingo watering can.
In the backpack, write or draw the names of everything I need to take on my bushwalking adventure. I know I'm going to need a rain jacket to keep me warm and safe, but what else should I bring?
Now it's your turn to write or draw the basic things I need. Thanks for helping me to pack. I can't wait to go on my next adventure.
Boys and girls, I forgot to tell you, I didn't need to bring him but I've decided Ted's going to come on an adventure. He's my favourite teddy and I love taking him outdoors. So let's go everyone.
