Resource overview

Eucalypt forest is a Stage 2 learning resource from Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre that explores how eucalypt forests support living things and how people and animals use these environments. Across six activities with videos and virtual tours, students identify key forest features and vegetation layers, then investigate how animals use the ground layer, shrub layer and canopy for food, shelter and movement; it supports Earth’s environment and Ecosystems explorers incursions and excursions.

Earth’s environment excursion

Students investigate a local eucalypt forest in Field of Mars Reserve, exploring features, plants, animals, weather and human impacts, and considering ways to care for environments sustainably.

Ecosystem explorers excursion

Students become field scientists, investigating living and non-living components of bushland ecosystems at Field of Mars Reserve, observing food chains, habitats and human impacts.
