In this literacy, numeracy and multimodal focused Stage 2 incursion students will work in small teams to assemble nest boxes using a range of tools including tape measures and electric screw drivers.
Working mathematically and using multimodal texts running on iPads, students will investigate the habitat requirements of animals found in their local area and determine the types of species likely to inhabit their nest box.
This research is conducted using an interactive digital multimodal text created by Field of Mars EEC staff. Each group will take notes for later creation of an information report on their target species and its habitat requirements.
One nest box will be given to each participating class for installation in the school grounds.
Maximum 3 classes per day.
Sessions are 1.5 hours.
