With a focus on STEM this Stage 2 incursion engages students in enhancing habitat for wildlife. Students work in small groups to assess school habitats and assemble nest boxes using a range of tools including tape measures and electric screw drivers.
Working mathematically and using multimodal texts running on iPads, students will investigate the habitat requirements of animals found in their local area and determine the types of species likely to inhabit their nest box.
One nest box will be given to each participating class for installation in the school grounds.
Maximum 3 sessions per day.
Sessions are 1.5 hours.
