Squeals, hoots, shrieks and scratchings. Who are the secret night raiders making these strange noises as darkness descends?
Students are introduced to a nocturnal soundscape that lead them on an investigative quest through the Field of Mars bushland. Working in small teams as forensic scientists, Stage 2 students seek out and collect or photograph forensic evidence, interpret clues and share their findings to help solve the mystery of the comings and goings of the bush creatures of the night.
With a focus on herbivores and carnivores, students sort, classify, label and explain their evidence of the reserve’s night raiders. This excursion supports Stage 2 Science Working scientifically and Living world outcomes.
Night raiders is a problem solving nature-based program. It supports the learning across the curriculum general capability Critical and creative thinking.
