When conducting fieldwork children can record their observations in many different ways.

In the mangroves Tess is taking photographs. She is also sketching what she sees.

In the eucalypt forest Steve is doing a leaf rubbing.

You can use touch to investigate natural textures and later write down your findings.

Here's Sophie she's making notes about the kookaburra she has seen.

Make a leaf rubbing video script transcript

The forest floor is littered with lots of amazing leaves.

In this video I'm going to create a leaf rubbing to help record the types of leaves we can find on the forest floor.

To create my leaf rubbing I'm going to use some crayons, some paper and a small clipboard.

After I place a leaf under the paper I'm going to use the flat side of my crayon to rub on top of my leaf.
