Classification | Primary science student learning resource

Learning Intention
We are learning how to group and classify non living and living things.

This Stage 2 science resource helps students learn how and why we classify things. Through ten activities with supporting videos and resources, students create groups of similar objects, collect and classify invertebrates, use the iNaturalist app to identify living things and develop their own classification keys.

Lesson 1 - Grouping things

Students explore why and how we classify by watching a short video, examining examples of classification keys and grouping leaves and everyday objects based on observable features.
